This building is located in a street corner between Rua Filipe Alistão and Rua Capitão-Mor standing near Faro down town water front.
It is one of the best examples of the 18th century architecture that still remains in Faro.
Probably designed by Diogo Tavares, one of the prestigious Master Mason of Algarve at that time, this property is classified as a public heritage.
The building was contract in 1741 by the Capitão-Mor, the Judge Veríssimo de Mendonça Mascarenhas Manuel and after its conclusion, in 1751, became the city residence of the mentioned Capitão-Mor.
In the beginning of the 19th century it became the residence of the family of Abram Amram, which promoted some renovations in its interior, notably the opening of new passages.
The building features two-story facades with nine balcony windows on the noble floor. The central body is enclosed by pilasters, highlighting the portal that was topped off by a balcony window with carved stone.
The vestibule is supported by four marble columns of Tuscan order.

In 1936, it was leased to a school, the Colégio Algarve, and adaptations in the building to accommodate the school activity where made.
The college remained operational until 2014.
Currently the building is partially vacant, still with two autonomous areas leased for trade and warehouse (see information about the leased areas on the ground floor plan).
